Seeing the potential contribution of a new generation of Filipino Americans, Vladimir James M. Manuel has become the community’s articulate voice for the youth. A dynamic and influential young leader, most of his initiatives encompass regional and national efforts focused on the unification of Filipinos in the United States, and the easing of the plight of the underserved segments of the community. Mr. Manuel was conferred a Philippine Presidential Citation in 2006 (“Banaag” award for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas) in recognition of his exemplary leadership in mobilizing the Filipino American youth for national objectives, and in effectively advancing the cause of Filipino Americans.

Mr. Manuel initiated and built the largest network of Filipino college students outside the Philippines - the Filipino Intercollegiate Networking Dialogue (FIND). The first FIND event occurred at Yale University in 1991 and within one short year, was formally founded at Harvard University. FIND has aided in the development of regional networks in the U.S. and Canada, and has provided the more than 3,000 students who attend its annual conferences with a strong sense of pride and nationhood. In 2003, he co-founded and served as Chair of Collaborative Opportunities for Raising Empowerment (CORE), considered as the only young Filipino professional organization borne out of the collaboration of different organizations in the U.S.. CORE strives to empower the Filipino young professional community through cultural education, social awareness, professional development, and community service. He is also founding member, and served as a recent Chair of the Filipino American Human Services, Inc. (FAHSI), considered the most active publicly funded non-profit Filipino organization in the Northeast. During his term, FAHSI started providing services at the Philippine American Center in Jamaica, New York and now offers a multitude of social and cultural services for the youth, domestic workers, elderly, new immigrants, and the 9/11 victims, all of which are seen to have contributed to the betterment of Filipinos’ conditions in the New York area.

 A passionate leader committed to empowering young Filipinos in the U.S., Mr. Manuel has been involved in several organizations such as the United Filipino Youth Council, Filipino American National Historical Society, National Filipino American Youth Association, Project Management Institute (PMI®), Folklorico Filipino, Philippine American Chamber of Commerce, and Philippine Club for the Performing Artist in various roles as organizer, director, adviser, project manager, and many others.

Mr. Manuel also served as an assistant at the Philippine Consulate General in New York, assisting diplomats in planning and organizing fundraising activities, seminars, presidential visits, parades and exhibits. He was also the action officer for the Science and Technology Advisory Council, Balik-Scientist Program, and the CFO’s Lakbay-Aral Program during his tenure at PCGNY. During his spare time, Mr. Manuel has advised several private firms, non-profit organizations and government agencies on how to penetrate and work in the Filipino American market. At age 20, he was the youngest to serve as the overall Vice Chair of the Philippine Independence Day Committee in 1990. Significantly, he authored the paper on which the principles of the National Federation of Filipino American Associations (NaFFAA) were based. To educate and inspire others, he has delivered speeches and given lectures on leadership, history and policy in several prestigious universities in the U.S. including Harvard University, Yale University, George Washington University, University of Pennsylvania, Mt. Holyoke College, College of Mount St. Vincent, Fairfield Univesity, Rutgers University, etc.

Mr. Manuel finished his graduate studies at Fordham University where he graduated at the top of his class and inducted into Alpha Mu Alpha and Beta Gamma Sigma National Honor Societies. He has received numerous awards from organizations such as U.S. Department of Commerce, Queens Council on the Arts, and Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.

Professionally, Mr. Manuel is Vice President of Enterprise Solutions at International Institute for Learning, Inc., one of the largest global consulting and training organizations that focus on Project Management, Program Management, Six Sigma, Microsoft Office Project, and Business Analysis. He serves as trusted adviser on project management to global businesses such as Citigroup, Nokia, Nokia Siemens Networks, AIG, Goldman Sachs, SAP, and others.

Mr. Manuel and his wife, Dr. Patricia V. Dimanlig-Manuel, have a son and a daughter, Alexander Ryan and Sophia Cristina.
