Being positive is the key to overall happiness and tranquility. With a background understanding of architectural design and artistic expression, I received a Bachelor's of Science Degree in the study of Interior Design from California State University, Northridge. In addition to my studies, I worked as an intern for several of the high-end furniture and textile showrooms located within The Pacific Design Center, LA's "go-to" design place, as well as the architectural design department at The Department of Water & Power. While at the DWP, I provided my knowledge of interiors as a new facet of design within the department. Prior to my contribution, the architects had to determine the finishes without much emphasis on interior design trends and innovative materials. I was able to provide them assistance with a nod to my expertise in that area. I often attended many lectures and exhibits showcasing various architectural and interior design professionals and what they offered within the design trade. Some of my favorite speakers included Richard Meier, Hodgett's & Fung, Morphosis and Karim Rashid. I enjoyed attending shows like Westweek and Dwell on Design. I also volunteered as a docent for several well known homes during  AIA's annual home tours in Los Angeles. A couple of the showcased homes I volunteered at were Conrad Bain's residence as well as the Jules Seltzer residence. In addition to my love of architecture, I worked on a couple of conceptual designs to be implemented in Frank Lloyd Wright's historic Ennis-Brown House. I provided my design solutions for the main powder room and the lower level pool-table room, which was currently being used as a gift shop. My design was to improve the functionality of the shop without losing the integrity of the architecture. I wanted to play-up the themes brought forth by Frank Lloyd Wright, expanding on his vision. These designs were submitted to the Historical Preservation group working on the property.

Post graduation, I became employed as a retail sales consultant at Expo Design Center. During my time there, I was able to gather additional working knowledge and insight into all facets of high-end residential renovation and upgrade projects. I gained a strong understanding to many varieties of  finishing products and materials that are often utilized in both transitional and high-end spaces. These materials include, but are not limited to the following: natural stone, porcelain tile, hardwoods, decorative plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, custom cabinetry, hardware, textiles and decorative accents. As my experience progressed,  I was transferred from the retail department to EXPO's "in-house" design department. I worked alongside other designers and clients, bringing the projects from inception to reality. Many of the projects consisted of Kitchen and Bath renovations. I oversaw many of the necessary details of the design process, which allowed me to use my organizational capabilities at full potential. I was employed at EXPO for a little over 7 years until they decided to close their doors in 2009. The closure prompted me to focus on my design knowledge and allowed me to move ahead, by offering my services as a Freelance designer. The extra time allowed me to go back to school to obtain some much-needed new skills pertaining to the Graphic Design field. After 2 years, I got married. I was able to put all I learned over the years to good use. I designed and created all of my wedding invitations and related materials using industry-standard graphic design software. When we moved into our new house , we completed many projects, such as upgrading our Master Bathroom, Kitchen & Patio over the course of several years, not to mention a complete overhaul of the flooring and electrical prior to moving in. I have to admit, both my design and organizing skills were fully utilized to their full potential in the past few years.
